Scholary Journal Article

The article that I found is titled “The Beatles lead a rock revolution” by Ed Christman. This article talks about how the Beatles created a new type of rock sound during the 50’s and 60’s. Most artists just did the songs that were given to them. The author says that the 50’s and 60’s were the times when artists began to take control of their music, and it was great for every band during that era. Bands like the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and the Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, and the Rascals. That each band pushed the limits of rock ‘n’ roll then and in return became legends in their own right. He goes on and talks about other well known performers were given their songs, and instruments, and they still became famous. Bands, like the Supremes, Elvis Presley, Bobby Vinton, and Chubby Checker, Connie Francis, and the Monkees. Also, he mentions that all of these bands have number one hits, if not more than one. The most demanded type of pop music in the 50’s and 60’s were one that had electric guitars and vocal harmony.

  1. Where was this published? It's not clear to me that this is a scholarly journal article, which is what is required for this assignment.

We'll talk about this in class.
